Louisville Franchise in MWHL Forced To Move

The Midwest Hockey League announced Monday that the franchise rights to the Louisville Chill have been sold to an ownership group in St. Louis, Missouri. After months of trying to develop the franchise in the Louisville market, it was determined that viability of the team was in question. Lack of interest from local business, as well as available ice time forced the MWHL to look for another market for franchise to play in.

Midwest Hockey League Is Going To The “Dogs”

The Midwest Hockey announced today the addition of the Chicago Bulldogs to their roster of teams for the league’s inaugural 2008-2009 season.
The Chicago Bulldogs are owned and operate by Mr. Alex Martinez and will play their games at the Darien Sportsplex Ice Arena in Darien Illinois, a suburb of the Windy City. The Chicago Bulldogs organization has been around since 2004, playing mostly in local leagues and in tournaments.

Indianapolis Trax

The Midwest Hockey League is excited to announce that Indianapolis would be the home to a new expansion franchise playing during the 2008-2009 season. The Indianapolis TRAX will take to the ice to play a 40 game schedule, 20 home and 20 away, starting in November. All games will be on Friday and Saturday nights.

On Saturday, July 12th, twenty three young men took to the ice in Evansville Indiana with the dream of becoming one of the Evansville IceMen. The IceMen, Evansville new minor league hockey team in the Midwest Hockey League, held it’s first open tryout to any hopefuls that believed they had what it took to play professional hockey.

Midwest Hockey League Won’t Gamble On Motor City

The Midwest Hockey League announced on Wednesday morning that the Motor City Gamblers will not be participating in the leagues inaugural 2008-2009 season. The Gamblers ownership and the Great Lakes Sports City arena have entered into agreements with multiple leagues, simultaneously.

MWHL Meetings Held in Evansville

The Midwest Hockey League concluded its weekend of League Meetings on Saturday June
28, at beautiful Ellis Park Race Track in Henderson , KY. The meetings focused on issues
for the upcoming inaugural season.
Issues covered included the rule book, Immigration, on ice officials, team protocols,
rosters, statistics, scheduling and equipment deals. Many announcements will follow
concerning these topics.
